Fishing

Ana Tree Lodge is perhaps best known for its exceptional fishing experience. The Zambezi River and its channels carry an excellent variety of fish including the much acclaimed Tiger Fish. The tiger, which is related to the infamous piranha, is rated as the toughest pound-for-pound fresh water fish in the world and is a regular catch in the channels just in front of the Lodge.

Other fish caught on a regular basis are vundu, bream and chesa. The Vundu (giant catfish) will test your stamina with weights that exceed 50kg.

Fishing can be done from the bank, in boats or from the edge of one of the many sandbanks that can be found where the channels merge.

WHAT TO BRING...

Keen fishermen should bring their own rods and tackle as the ones provided at the Lodge, whilst good, are more suitable for beginners.

Flood waters generally recede in June making June- November ideal months for fishing.
